I read somewhere that amateurs / hobbyists have Art Blocks, but professionals just do the work regardless on their sense of motivation. In the past year, I feel like I've stumbled into a pretty big art block, but my art quality has always been reflective of the expectations I set for me -- which in turn are roughly based on the expectations I think other people set for me.

My irl art that I give and show to irl people has at least a level or two above the art I just post online -- as if people who communicate with me online are somehow not as impressive as those I talk to in person. I view this as similar to how my art online is not as impressive, because online you only need a few clicks or type a few letters to see people who are more impressive in every way. What's interesting though is that people I meet irl tend to leave my company either through work or graduation or because I'm a jerk (intentionally) -- so it's very fleeting this feeling of intense connection, whereas people I know are still online and are just a few messages away from moderate re-connection.

That's just how it is. So with that in mind, here are my goals for this year:
  • Reconnect with old Internet friends: Sofia, pure, Ash, others... (Yo! I'm on Tumblr too now if you want to keep track that way!)
  • Launch Skies of Power (webcomic): I've set the date for March 19.
  • Learn new techniques: find new tutorials and try them out on MAX -- a monthly art exchange that seems to be moving to dA
  • Drop the "this is really good"-style comments in favour of more constructive or criticism comments (if the artist is requesting it).
  • Attempt to post something via this new (???) dA motion book thing...
Expect me to check-in at least once every 2-3 weeks! :D
